Pentane is a naturally occurring compound found in crude oil and natural gas condensate. Pentane refers to a molecule that has five carbon atoms with only hydrogen atoms bonded to the carbons.
Main application: it is used as a solvent, make synthetic ice, drug and alcohol, different synthesis e 1-bromopentane, blowing (foaming) agent during the manufacture of polystyrene and polyurethane foams.
